We're moving through lots of Worldwake. We've also got a few fat packs and intro packs still in. Get them while you can.
Also, don't forget that Tuesdays we are going $10 Standard events at 5:30pm. We're giving away no less than one booster worth of prize support and prizes are split over the top half of the field. We're still doing $6 FNM on Friday as well at 6:00pm.
We've got a special Worldwake Game Day this weekend. Entry is $10. There will be swiss rounds with a cut to the top 8. Everyone will get a special extended art Hada Freeblade just for participating (while supplies last). The top 8 players will get an extended art foil Kalastria Highborn. There will also be booster packs added ot the prize pool. This event starts at 12:00pm (nnon).
And as if that weren't enough, we've got a Grand Prix Trial event this Sunday. The event starts at 1:00pm. Entry fee is $20 and we'll be adding 4 packs per player into the prize pool and we'll be adding some promos. This event will also be swiss rounds with a cut to the Top 8. The winner will receive a three-round bye at Grand Prix Houston next month!

Worldwake is on sale now and is selling EXTREMELY well. Everyone seems to be having fun deck building with this set. We have plenty of boosters and Intro packs, but Fat Packs are running out quick!
Worldwake Game Day will be March 6th with a $10 entry fee and Standard Format. Event Starts at 12:00pm.
Grand Prix Trial - Houston will be held in-store on March 7th with a $20 entry and will be Extended format. Even starts at 1:00pm. (there is also a similar event in Killeen on March 27th).
Don't forget about the $1,000 cash tournament this weekend (February 20th). The entry fee is $25 and the event starts at 11:00am.
The Tuesday Standard Box Tournament is now an official weekly event!
$10 entry fee with a minimum of a box guaranteed.
For every player beyond 12, we will add 3 packs to the prize pool. And prizes will be paid to the top half ot he field!
Events will begin at 5:30pm and we will do four rounds only. That guarantees that everyone still gets home at a decent hour with us likely finishing around 8:30 to 9:00pm.
And yes, that includes tomorrow (2/16/10).

The latest expansion, Worldwake is on sale now. Hurry down and come get it. We've got Intro Packs, Fat Packs, and Boosters for sale. Full booster boxes (36 packs) are discounted. The Fat Packs are extremely limited, so hurry down to get your hands on one.
Also, don't forget that we've got the Worldwake Release Celebration this weekend. The event starts at 12:00pm (noon) this Saturday (2/6/1020) and it's $30. The event is a sealed pack format, so you'll be given 6 packs to build and play the event with.
There's also rumor of a special event coming this Tuesday afternoon. Keep your eyes and ears open for that!

Well, if you've been by the store lately, you've seen that we've got our countdown clock ticking down to the Worldwake Prerelease. That will be in-store on SUNDAY January 31st. 1:00pm start and a $30 entry fee. This will be a sealed pack event where you open packs and keep the cards.
We will have an in-store release party on the following weekend (Saturday February 6). This will have a 12:00pm (noon) start with a $30 entry fee. you can save $5 if you play in the Prerelease as well. This will be a sealed pack event where you open packs and keep the cards.
We also got restocked on Zendikar, Magic 2010, and Shards of Alara.
In case you missed the announcement, we've now got the all-foil Shards block booster packs. This is a cool collector's item with a chanc eto pick up some expensive cards.

Our stock on Zendikar and M10 should remain ok through the holiday break. This will allow us to hold several booster drafts while everyone is on break from work and school.
Also, be aware that we've still got Friday Night Magic happening. And on December 26th, we'll be hosting an MTG booster draft tournament for $15. This will give everyone something to do the day after Christmas and make up for there not being an FNM event :)

We've got large Friday Night Magic events happening weekly now. We're also doing more booster drafting on the weekends.
To make things better for everyone we are going to start hosting Booster Drafts on Saturdays at 3:00pm. And yes, that means there will be a draft the day after Christmas!

We're also drawing nice large crowds for Friday Night Magic. If you're looking for good entertainment value for your dollar, and want to meet other players, this is your best time to come play. It's $6 and start at 6:00pm.
For those of you that were eagerly awaiting it, now is the time to come and get your ALL FOIL SLIVER DECKS! These were sold out on preorder. These are a cool collectible item. We got as much as we could, but I can't promise how long they'll last!

Everyone has gone draft happy recently. We're drafting a couple times a week. So, stop on in and get your draft on. And as usual, we will sanction any event that we get 8 players for.
And you should DEFINITELY get down on for Friday nights. We've got a lot of new people looking to join the ranks of the FNM crowd and additionally we're doing door prizes aevery round.

Well, if you haven't heard by now, Zendikar is available. It seems almost strange to say this, but Zendikar is on pace to easily become the highest selling Magic set of all time. We've still got some booster boxes in from the first wave (chance of getting a treasure card) if you hurry. We've even got a few fat packs left.
We're still hosting Friday Night Magic. We've even got people that want to booster and/or play Elder Dragon Highlander almost every day. So, get on the message forum, meet up and let’s play!

We've got a large post and discussion on our message forums about Zendikar. If you are interested in getting your hands on Zendikar around the release date, you need to come in and preorder ASAP. Even large stores and companies have cutoff their preorders or have increased their preorder prices.
This set will be hot. There's further discussion on the message forums if you want to check it out and get better informed. Either way, get your preorders into us ASAP. No need to pay up front, but you'll need to let us know if you want a box or two held for you. This will guarantee you a lower price than waiting until it comes out.

To minimize confusion this is a reminder that the Zendikar prerelease event will be held in store on SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 27th.
Also, the following week, there will be a standard format cash tournament with a legacy event and Zendikar release celebration. It will all be going down at Poppa Rollo's on October 3rd. So yes, there is a lot of MTG on the way.

If you missed our Planechase event, you really missed out. This new item is designed specifically for group games. It's fun, unique, and definitely entertaining. We've got a few decks left. If you want to get your hands on them, I suggest you hurry, as they are extremely limited.
Also, tomorrow (Tuesday 9/9/09) we should have the deck boxes and sleeves that fit the Planechase planes cards.

This weekend Saturday 8/15 at 1:00pm we have a Magic 2010 Game Day. This is a standard format event with a $10 entry fee. There is also an exclusive foil card that EVERY participants gets just for playing. There are even some exclusive foils for making the top 8 (and other goodies of course).
We should also have Planechase in about two weeks. Don't fret about Planechase if you don't get any on the first run. From what we are told, we've got reason to believe that there will be another printing of this product so that it stays available down the road.
And for those of you looking to booster draft, we've had people in every week wanting to get their draft on. So, make your way to The Game Closet on Wednesday evenings.

This weekend (8/1) is a big one. We're giving away a cruise and lots of cash in a standard format tournament. We're also going to be giving away a couple of $100+ cards in our Legacy event! Details for both events can be found at JDSEvents.com.
If you haven't heard, Magic 2010 is in short supply. So, until about August 10th we will be limiting purchases to 5 packs per customer.
Also, August 15th is the date for a Magic 2010 Game day event. This will be standard with a $10 entry and will include promos for all participants. You won't want to miss this event!

For those of you that haven't heard by now, we'll have Magic 2010 (otherwise known as M2010) on same this week. We're also doing a sealed deck tournament on Saturday at 12:00pm (noon). Cost is $30. However, if you played in last week's event, it's only $25 for you AND you get a free booster pack.
Also, don't forget about the Cash & Cruise event coming up on August 1st. This will be standard format, so everyon ethat plays FNM should hae a deck.
Some of you like older cards and don't have a standard deck. Luckily, that same day, we've also got a Legacy Shootout tournament. There are some great prizes for both of these. It's rare that you're going to have a large local event with this level of prizes, so don't miss out.
If you know anyone that's interested in learning MTG, but you're not sure where to start them, have them come by and we can get them setup with a couple of beginner/demo decks. This will make teaching, sharing, and learning the game much easier.

M2010, the latest MTG core set is due out soon. We're running a prerelease event for it on July 11th. And we'll have a release celebration for M10 on the following Saturday, July 18th. More details to come on this front as well.
Also, don't forget that we'll be giving away a boat cruise and some extra cash on the August 1st. We're even adding a Legacy side event for some pretty valuable cards (including foreign black border dual lands) as a side event.
And we're still pushing Friday Night Magic weekly. We're upping the stakes a little bit. We're going to have random door prize drawing EVERY round. We aren't going to take any prize out of the prize pool. We're just going to give away extra stuff every round.

With the summer season hitting, we're getting involved in several cash events. We're going to run a gateway event for the $5K Dallas event. We're also going to be looking into more Legacy tournaments. Expect to see that info coming your way soon!

We also want to point out that this week's Legacy tournament will be Saturday (April 18th) at 3:00pm. Entry fee is still $10 and there will be prizes for everyone. We have just a few packs of the Divin v. Demonic set left. These sets were extremely limited, so once they are gone, there is almost no chance of a restock for us. If you want them, hurry down and grab them.

The Divine vs. Demonic Duel Decks are in this week. However, these are EXTREMELY limited. We are still deciding what to do with these and what price would be fair ro sell these at. These were sold out on preorder and we managed to get our hands on a few more.

This what a bunch of you have been asking for. We're now hosting Legacy tournaments. This is your chance to bust out your old favorite decks and bring them battle. It's the only sanctioned format we host in the store that allows you to play all your old cards. This week, it's on a Sunday. Things are rolling strong. Conflux is on sale now! Last weekend we had our biggest MTG event in store since the move. We're expecting another solid crowd for the Conflux Release Party this Saturday. The event starts at noon! Entry fee is $25.
We're also going to setup for some events this spring that include more EDH, Extended tournaments, Legacy Tournaments, and even a Bad Deck tournament
Also, make note of the new Agents of Artifice book. It looks to be the first solid MTG novel in a while. And for $19.99 you can't go wrong. It's a hardback book that comes with an exclusive promo card!

The Conflux Prerelease event is this Saturday. The event starts at noon! As we did with our last event, in additional their product for the event, all players will receive a ticket that redeemable for a free booster pack the following weekend for participation in the release party.
Friday Night Magic is still happening as usual every Friday at $6:00pm (Standard Format). We have been debating making the last weekend of the month sealed or booster draft. We'd make to where players that participate in all FNMs for the month get to play the last weekend for a discount. Discuss it on the message board and let us know what you think.

Not a whole lot new here other than the From the Vault: Dragons. We only got a couple of copies, so it is not going to be for outright sale. We will be doing a drawing for the right to purchase one. These things sell for $65-100 on ebay and they only have a retail value of $35. So, of course these are hot.
Tickets for the drawing will be $1 and you can purchase as many as you like. We will set a date for the drawing shortly and the winners will have the right to purchase the product at retail. We figure this is the most fair way to handle things without playing favorites or selling it for an obscenely high price.

We have a couple of events this weekend.
First off, Eventide is for sale and moving fast. So, come and get it!
We also have a Texas Magic Tour Qualifier this Saturday at Noon. The format is Extended, so you can you cards all the way back to Onslsught. And the top two players qualify for a Texas players only tournament. It's like a Pro Tour event for Texans only. We'll have additional prizes as well. Entry fee is $10.
Also, on Sunday we have our Eventide Release Event. It's sealed pack format and the cost is $25. This starts at 1:30pm.

We have a Texas Magic Tour Qualifier event coming up on July 26th. It's Extended format entry is $10 and it qualifies you for a tournament that's exlusive to Texas. Noon start time.
We also have a large Standard event (which is one of the last qualifiers) on September 13th and it has a $20 entry fee. 11:00am start time.
And of course, there are still MTG Booster Drafts on Wednesdays.
Other than that tournaments, which are on the schedule, we've also like to note that we've had a resurgence of Elder Dragon Highlander being played in the store.
And for those of you that like playing formats that allow you to use all your cards, now is the time to be playing in the store. In addition to EDH, we also have people playing Legacy format games. We're also working on some deals that will lead to some Legacy tournaments for higher dollar out of print cards. So, keep your eyes and ears open for those.

We have the 3rd Annual JDS Events Team Challenge coming up in August, so start getting a group together and making plans for that.
Regionals is also this Saturday (June 7th in Dallas).
We still have Wednesday night drafts at 5:30pm weekly. And of course there's still Friday Night Magic every Friday (Standard Format-6:00pm).
We're also in the middle of working out the details on our MTG summer series of tournaments. These will be tournaments held on Sunday afternoons for some fun prizes and they will lead up to a final tournament at the end of the summer.

Don't forget that Wednesday at 5:30pm is MTG Draft Night at The Game Closet. We've gotten a draft off for several weeks in a row now. Don't be late. It's a different way to play Magic and you don't even need to prepare a deck. Show up and give it a shot.
Regionals is quickly approaching. If you want practice playing Standard (Type 2), I will have some decks together to play against during the week. Feel free to bring up your stuff and get some games in. Also, for extra practice we are considering some Saturday tournaments if everyone is interested. This will give you a couple of weeks of preparation for the big event.

Shadowmoor, the latest MTG set is out and for sale. We've also gotten our Shadowmoor singles sorted and ready for sale. We are planning on running summer tournament series for MTG that includes a host of Sunday events. Players want more to do on the weekends, so we plan to deliver.
